A Sample of Parent Viewpoints

Dee Nichols, Mother of Ethan Brown, Baseball, Class of 2005:

"Let me update you as far as Ethan goes.

He's going to WPI.  We sent in the $500 acceptance check.  He recieved the Dean's Scholarship for $52,000 to be spread over 4 years.  His total financial package to date leaves about $14,000 split between his father and me for about $7,000 per year out of about $42,000 per year.  I wrote Ms. Blondin at the financial aid office.  Once she receives my tax returns she may be able to do more.  But one way or the other, Ethan will go to the school of his choice.

Coach Robertson is wonderful!  I can't say enough about him.  He's been staying in touch with Ethan each week and seems genuinely thrilled to have Ethan joining his team.  He told Ethan that he has received more financial aid than anyone ever on his team or the football team.  Ethan and I are pretty thrilled.

Ethan also received an invitation to go to Oxford in Cambridge, England.  We were both pretty blown away.  They knew of his academic achievements, athletics, etc.  They also sent us the financials to go there.  I told Ethan that maybe for his Masters he could think about going there.

Anyway...we've been to two breakfasts at WPI.  Ethan has spent a couple of weekends there and a few Saturday afternoons.  The night he spent with the baseball team, he took them for $28 at Texas Hold 'em.  I think even Coach Robertson was surprised.

Well, I guess that's it for now.  I'm really glad we got together with you Pat.  You really opened our eyes to a lot, things we never would have known without your expertise and experience.  I know we wouldn't have had the scoop regarding WPI and Coach Robertson either without you.  So I thank you for all you've done and we wish you well.

"Most of all, thanks for everything you have done to help me.  Indiana is definitely the right choice!
Ben Fay, Swimmer, Attleboro, MA

"Sorry that I have not gotten back to you, I've been busy with school, work, and training. My family and I would like to thank you for your help in finding the right school for me. I will be attending Rhode Island College in the fall and found it to be a good fit. We visited several times and every time I felt comfortable being on campus. The coaching staff was very persistent in having me play for them. They attended several fall baseball games and were looking at me during the legion season. Team practice starts next week so everyone is getting focused. Once again thank you for all your help and direction in the college selection."
Josh Cardosa, New Bedford, MA

"Mount Ida it is! ...
I believe it ended up just under 50% is being paid by Mt. Ida, not bad for Div 3. She would have gotten more from Teikyo Post since they offered almost what Mt Ida did plus athletic $$ but it just wasn't the right fit. Thanks for all of your help...I believe the coach got Katherine's name from another coach who read her profile on CPOA website. She then came to watch her play several times. At one tournament, the coaches from Teikyo Post, Utica, and Mt Ida were all there, so I think they upped the ante a little seeing she was being sought after!
Debbie Pittinger, West Boylston, MA

"I wanted to again thank you for your assistance and guidance throughout this past year. The tips and information you provided led us to the best possible lead's for Shane's college baseball career. The program gave him excellent exposure and widened his opportunities. Shane was seen and contacted by many coaches all around the country as a result of the program. I am happy to say that he was accepted by all the colleges he applied for and is looking forward to a great college career...Shane was accepted at all the schools he applied to and had spots on every team. He decided to attend Thomas College, was accepted into their 5 yr MBA program in Finance & Economics and earned a starting pitching spot on the team. The school is a great fit for him and it ended up being his first choice. The icing on the cake is that he earned a full 4 year tuition scholarship as a New England Leadership Scholar. We are all very proud and thrilled that everything came together.

Thanks for your assistance and support throughout this process. I'm sure you enjoy hearing about all the happy endings as well. Now we are looking forward to a fun and relaxing Senior baseball season.

"We liked how honest our CPOA representative was, how they never once promised us the 'golden goose', but rather explained the recruitment process to us and what we needed to do to help the process.  As you well know we did sign, and it was without a doubt the best decision we ever made."
Mr. & Mrs. B. Hicks, IN

"I have been a high school coach for five years now and have seen the recruiting process up close.  I have now experienced it as a parent.  I firmly believe that if it were not for CPOA's efforts, my son would not have had as many choices and scholarship opportunities."
Coach S. Heck, OH

"It's all about marketing and credibility of having a third party present an athlete for consideration vs. the perceived self-serving or biases of an individual parent or family. The exposure the athlete receives is what makes it work."
Mr. G. Plummer, MN

"We just had to thank everyone at College Prospects of America for all the help you gave us and our son, Joseph, throughout the recruiting process. As you know, Joe has committed to play football at Harvard University this fall."
Mr. & Mrs.
B. Kawczenski, PA

"Rarely does a player sit out his senior year in high school and still get a scholarship offer. The fee that I paid was a great investment. For several hundred dollars, you helped my son get a scholarship worth over $40,000. Thanks again."
Mr. M. Musil, TX

"Thank you for your personal attention and assistance...We were contacted by 20 different colleges in the D-1 and D-2 level.  We really appreciated your advice and experience."
Mr. J. Fill, VA

"Thank you for the diligent and persistent effort you provided Bo during
the recruiting season. As a father, it is reassuring to know you had
his best interest in mind throughout the process. Candidly, I can only
imagine what the results might have been had we not made the commitment to College Prospects of America."
